Designers Making a Difference – Creating a Culture of Giving Back
Dec 1, 2020
At HPA Design Group we strongly believe it is our social responsibility to give back to our community and to collectively invest our time, talents, and energy to those in need.
With the leadership of our president, Chelsea Dora-Shibley, and creative direction from our Senior Interior Designer, Niki Landry, the conception of HPAD Cares was born – an employee to community connection program designed to make our world a better place.
In celebration of our one-year anniversary and GivingTuesday, HPAD Cares highlights key partnerships with nonprofit organizations that have enriched our communities and bridged the economic gap.
Dwell with Dignity
Kicking off our first volunteer event, our team partnered with Dwell with Dignity, a nonprofit dedicated to creating soothing, inspiring homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty. Over 21 team members volunteered on a Saturday afternoon and sold unused, high-end furniture. All proceeds from the event and unsold furniture were donated to the nonprofit.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Prior to the tight restrictions of the pandemic, our team planned to partner with St. Jude for their annual fundraising event, Evening Under The Stars Party & Golf Classic, which has raised over one million dollars for the fight against childhood cancer. Unfortunately, the event has been rescheduled to April 2021. HPAD Cares is hopeful to participate in the next annual gala by providing 250 swag bags for attendees.
Act of Kindness
Adjusting to the new normal, the HPAD Cares leadership team had to think outside the box to our philanthropy approach. This past July, team members were challenged to pay it forward by participating in socially distanced acts of kindness in their communities. From picking up trash around the lake to making masks for nursing homes, our team stepped up and paid it forward in creative, yet thoughtful ways to bring some sunshine into the world.
Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support
Wrapping up summer, HPAD Cares teamed up with Genesis Women’s Shelter in Dallas, Texas, and donated over nine bins of clothing, general household items, and goods to women and children in need.
Pet Halloween Costume Contest
Transitioning into spooky season, team members with furry friends participated in a pet Halloween costume contest online. Winners of the contest received a donation from HPAD cares and gave to their charity of choice. HPAD Cares donated on behalf of our winners to, Kitten and Cat Rescue in Orange County and Dallas Pets Alive.
Thanksgiving Food Drive
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, HPAD team members across the nation will be participating in food drives. All nonperishable items collected will be donated to local food banks in the Dallas, Florida, and California communities surrounding our offices.
It has been an honor to work alongside committed and compassionate organizations. We are looking forward to serving our communities in 2021.
